    Chevy truck ratrod

Im new at this but im just getting started on a 48 chevy rat rod and I wont to use the dimensions from a 31 model a ford frame. Using 2x3 tubing and mod the frame to b z"d and then channel the cab on the frame. Is this possible or am I just waisting my time. Any input would b great

Welcome to CHR!!!! Have you taken some of the dimension off the '48 body??? If you're going to build a frame from scratch you might do better with a frame that would have the correct dimensions for the body you're using....or if you have the frame for the '48 you might be better to start with it. As a first time build, might want to keep things simple so the project doesn't end up overwhelming you and get pushed in a corner and forgotten. I'm not trying to discourage you, just saying what we've seen happen in the past.

Plenty of experience on the forum here to help you out with difficulties you'll encounter during the course of a build.

Its going to be one heck of a project.....Im building my frame as well. What size of motor(horse power) do you think is going to be sitting between the rails. If you plan on having 300hp + I would suggest to spend a little extra money and work with 2x4x 1/8th wall tubing. Much stronger and better for frame stress. If you have patience and accept that the project will not be done over night.....do a lot of planing, drawing, measuring and them when you have a clear plan to what you want....I would say go for it. I have had my truck in the garage for 3 months now and I just finished my frame measurements and had my new rails CNC plasma cut to achieve the stance and suspension that I will be using.

Good Luck and post pics....we L-O-V-E pics

    Should work fine. I used a 27 T bucket frame with a 51 Ford F1 cab.
