36 ford i just picked up...where to start lol...

i just picked this truck up out of the bush and i\d like to build it into a rat rod for cheap.... the previous owner said he would pour diesel in it and turn it over but that was years ago and it is seized now... i've pulled the plugs and filled the cylinders with rust buster and atf... i would like to run the flat head but if its toast i have running 460s,351m,302, or 440 or small block dodges with tranmissions available....

what is the easiest way to get this thing switched over to 5 lugs and hydraulic brakes especially for the front?

...i have many different rear diffs to chose from, like ford 9s, chevy 10 bolts, dodge 8.25 and 8.75 that i plan to install in the rear....

Move farther back when taking them ..... no just ball busting.

Your hosting site should have some options for size pix. If they come off you own puter you can right click & "resize" the pictures & "save". Then post them.

For your photos - many of us here and on a couple of other sites that I frequent use Photobucket. It's free and you just copy and paste to your thread. A couple of words of warning about that site. Make sure you download to your computer first to save the pictures the download to Photobucket. Then, if you move or change the picture on Photobucket, it changes or removes it from your thread. Another way is to use something like Photoshop Elements. You can modify and clean up the pictures, resize them to a smaller size then post. I use 500 pixels for the with and the fit just fine here.

OK - great find, though that early flathead - gonna cost big bucks to get running, especially if it's the pre 59A or A-B/8BA versions as parts for them are tough to find and when you do, be prepared for sticker shock:LOL:

You'll need a different front axle. That one does not deliver power to the front wheels. And you'll need a transfer case... All trucks need to be 4x4 don't they? No? Maybe just here in the South.

lol, i do have a 1985 dodge 4x4 with a dana 44 i could use for parts... i was thinking 2 wheel drive but 4x4 would work too.....:D

If your 36 has the same front axle as my 47 3ton had(10yrs ago), then king pins from passenger cars to 3 ton are the same. I was able to use car spindles on my 3ton axle when swapping everything over to a 5x4.5 ford pattern.....joe

what year do i need to look for to get hydraulic brakes for the front? i'm interested in just doin a spindle swap on the front brakes, then swap in a ford9 in the rear ....

well i pulled the starter off to get a prybar on the flywheel to see if i could make it budge but she is tight!....so now this project is on the back burner or maybe even for sale

lol Well there are trucks that are 2-wheel drive. Well since it's new, check the shocks and strut assembly. Brakes too. BTW any updates regarding your new truck?
