Rat Rodding
Just a little some thing I thought I would share.
Back in the day you did what was needed to get your car running. I am not that old (44) but I remember having to rig up my leakly exhaust with a soup can and band clamps to get by. That is old school rat rodding!!!
Tool box essentials: duck tape, a pair of screwdrivers, pliers, crescent wrench and a hammer and we are all set for emergency repairs!

RJ,
So right. My first "Rod" was a 35 ford 4 door with a souped up flat head (in 1961). I cobbed it up with what I had and my tool box was as you described.:D
Jack.

Im older than you so my tool kit had bailing wire (duct tape had not been invented yet) but the rest of the tools were as yours were.
-
there is a difference between getting by how you can and taking something whole and un building. it. as long as they are safe, then I think they are a lefitimit rod but some of them are basically for shock value and not really drivable
-
Duct tape is like the Force it has a light side , a dark side, and holds the universe together.
-
The more modern version of your bailing wire was the good old metal coat hanger
-
And if I ever meet the guy who invented Vice Grips I am going to buy that man a drink! :D:D:D
Don

No, No, No. The metal coat hanger was for welding up your exhaust pipe, or the pinhole in the valve cover that seemed to leak whenever it wanted to.
