I saw a 34 Chrysler 4 door made into a sedan delivery, and he used the rear door from a PT Cruiser Panel for the rear door on the 34. Really sharp ride.
Jack
got the rear window panels welded in.
started to shave the cowl vents to smooth the top of the cowl.
this way a hood will fit better and if l don't run a hood it will look better:3dSMILE:

Rolled the car out today and took some pics in the nice wheather. helps keep us motovated to see it in the sunlight.
I know not everyone will like the mustang II style I F S, people here tend to lean toward the straight axle look if you are not running fenders.
l have been told certain car shows won't allow me to be in them. l can deal with that. just gonna drive it and enjoy the heck outta it.
January in washington and it got up to 50 degrees or so and no rain in sight for the weekend.
Will be filling in the cowl vent next week and start getting the rust cut out and replaced. when the rust is out the other body work can start so we can get it painted before summer. between the doors the post will be flattend and feathered in so it's a flat panel.
no rear door, just a window.
Later
Good job Skull, I like it :D
put the grill om just to check porportians, looks ok to me.

l told the body man who is helping me l was not happy with the way the rear panels looked:( here is a few pics of the process of removing part of that 4 door post in the middle and making the panels smooth and flat. hope to be done with the panels soon.
here is the steering wheel l am using. it's a real classic from the 70's. l've had it fore ever and used it on several cars. kept it because it's really cool and old school :toocool:
more progress pics:::
started replacing the rusted out floor pan and got the gas tank mount welded in yesterday. we stuck the mock up motor & tranny in to see where the firewall and floor pan needed modified. the mock up running gear fit better than l thought it would considering all the changes that have been made to the body. lots of measuring before cuttiing out the 7" from the back doors and roof put the firewall 2 1/2" from the back of the motor leaving room for the HEI distribtor.
today starts floor pan install and figuring out exhaust placement.
Later
badass that is all
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
we started working on the floor pan and firewall. the oringal floor was to rusted out and unsafe to use. so 99% of the floor was cut out. to replace the floor pan l am using a method that worked good on my race cars. we are building a cage out of square tubing that runs from side to side and front to back out of 2" in the rear and 1 1/2" in the front so the metal floor sits on top of the floor cage . the floor pan will then be attached to the floor cage by welding. this makes a stronger floor pan than the oringal. the floor cage then will be attached to the chassis by bolts.
the fire wall will then be fabbed to the foor pan and welded together creating a one piece firewall to floorpan with no seams. many holes will have to be filled in and the redrilled in the places to run hoses, steering and other things thru.
post updates on progress soon,
Later:toocool:
We started removing the old rusty wheel inner fender wells in the rear to get ready to put in small tubs. because of the narrowed ford 9" rearend, a mild 3" inset on the rear inner panels is required to clear the tires. the out side panels will be raised and leved to the frame for suspension travel.
car still looks rough but progress is moving at a decent pace.
behind a little bit. By now l was hoping frame/chassis was powder coated and re-assembled so the hard lines and wiring was underway.
post more progress as soon as it happens.
Later:cool:
today's stuff.
started re-doing the rear inner fender wells to make mini tubs for rear tire clearance.
we used a single axle trailer fender cut in half down the middle. worked great and when sound deadening and carpet is installed, ya'll never know what was put in to tub it.
Later:cool:
Frame is looking good!
started the fire wall and hopes are to get the floorpans done soon**)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
did some figuring out how the exhaust will be ran . came up with a set of T bucket headers.
they stuck out way to far and interfered with the steering. when l turned the tires. they hit the front pipe. the pipes also stuck out to far for my liking.
we cut the tubes; 5'' out of the front, 4 1/2'' out the middle and 4'' out of the back.
this matches the angle of the frame and tucks the exaust under the body so it won't burn peoples legs getting in and out.
the chrome tips are 18'' long and have mufflers built in. l'm gonna end the pipes in front of the rear tire, turned slightly down to direct exhaust fumes away from the car.
Later:toocool:
pics of fire wall starting to be extended down to meet the floor pans.
exhuast pics.
more pics......
this shot shows how much better they now fit :3dSMILE:
the other header that l put the picture of is made to fit 32-34 ford frames, it also sat to close to the front tires and also interferred with the steering and hit the coloulm shaft. it ran the shaft right thru the middle of the pipe, not under or over it. l thought of several ways to modify the pipes or coloulm but nothing worked. l then tried other styles, fender well headers, 3 different styles of block hugger headers, 70's camaro, 62- 79 nova, 64-72 chevelle, 57 chevy, 4 sets of roadster headers and even some V8 vega headers l had laying around since the early 80's nothing worked till l made the T pipes.
later:toocool:
so, finally the floor pans are in. now mock up pedals is next.
Later**)
l mocked up the master cylinders today and the placement for the fuel pedal and brake pedal. running two single chamber master cylinders, 1'' bore for the front and 7/8 bore for the rear. the balance bar under the the dash that attaches the master cylinders to one pedal has a 15% angle so the front brakes engange a fraction of a second before the rear brakes. hard lines next, fuel, brake etc.
then motor will be to be mocked up next, that's the ugly one ya see in the picture. the one going in for real is a 400hp small block chevy and is painted black with lots of chrome goodies, [chrome makes it go faster:D] and then steering colunm, then wiring and on and on it goes.
taking longer than l hoped, but if l want it nice, ya pay the price.
Later:cool:
Looking Great! You using flux core wire on your welder?
got the heater l am using mocked up. it's out of a 50 dodge truck. the motor is a6 volt motor so l will use a voltage drop in the wiring si it don't burn out.
l figure out that 2 tranmission coolers. one is a heat sink with a filter and a standard one in the rear by the shocks.
later:cool:
been awhile since update on the dodge,
here what we been doing the last couple weeks;
mocked up brake pedal and master cylinder. fuel pedal's put in, raditor's in,
mocked up the grille shell, put on the hoses, got the heater in, figured out the altenator brackets and mocked them up, seats are in, puke can, odds and ends.
gonna take her on the car trailer and take it to the local cruz'in friday. we'll take her off the trailer and put in the middle of the show and let the comments fly.
then soon tear it all back down for wiring ,paint, etc, etc**)
Later:cool:
temporarly screwed the body to the frame. just took self-tapping 3/16'' screws and zapped it thru the floor, then thru the top of the frame. that should hold to push it around till the body is permantly attatched.**)
also did some checking on how to attatch the mufflers/chrome tips, running the out-let on the exhaust to the rear fender lip, just behind the door. l'm
using the roadster style 3'' chrome tips with built in mufflers. IF these tips with the muffler are to loud(not for me, for the guy next door, he calls the ''MAN'' on me all the time. he don't like my hot rods:eek: )l'll stick the speedway muffler tube inserts in the semi pipes.
since my exhaust is 3'' I.D, l had to use semi exhaust pipes to connect the header collector to the mufflers/chrome tips to extend to where l want it to dump.
going to have to build some serious custom hangers for this set-up
post some pice when the exhaust is mocked up.
Later
:cool:took the car outside for pics and to see her in the yard.
Later**)
view thru windshield.
better view than l thought:3dSMILE:

SEE ABOVE
What was it you were covering up in "paint"?
the 7, 9 and 11 year old girls want to paint it. so l gave the a coulple cans of red and black. said top black, bottom red, go for it!!**):eek:
they had a blast and later on were gonna strip it to bare metal and do a two tone paint job.
Later:cool:
That's very cool that you let the young ladies lean into the project with spray cans, but I was talking about "paint" in your computer program. I can see where you went over some of the grass and trees. Left the dog though.
just my old work truck and a bunch of parts to sort through
Wow, It's come a long way, looking good!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

a few pics of where the exhaust is going to be. finished the hangers on wednesday. the grill painted and on the car. l think for a temporary grille it don't look to bad. just there till the stainless gets put in
the showing went well last night:3dSMILE:
had lots of poeple looking and commenting on which way to finish it.
dsome say rat, some say finish the boby work and nice paint.
some where inbetween is how l figure she'll end up.
heading to another show today at the tumwater albertons's. gonna take pics and post'em tonight.

weelllllll, now the fun is over and time to get back to seriously kicking it up a notch and get runnin' for summer.
monday will blow apart to start bodywork, wiring, etc.
looks like a real car sittin' in the lot:D

Hi Jim,
You are one fast dude. I've been working on mine for 5+ years and it's nowhere near taking in any shows. The MRS and I went to the car show in Covington today, I posted some pics in Hot Rod Talk.:)
Jack.
hey jack,
lots of hours and many days in a row to get it his far from dec 09' till now**)
not just me, my two friends have put a mass amount of time in this thing.
l'm limited in what l can do so help with the things l can't do anymore.
at the show yesterday my help's girlfriend came over. she works with mentally handicapped adults and she brought one of her clients she takes care of. she said "andy loves cars and on his weekend outing we came to see'em". l let him sit in the car and he thought he was in heaven:3dSMILE:
he liked that a lot and it made me feel good. he could not touch any of the other so letting him sit in mine was special to him.
the red chevy truck next to the car is my 69' chevy SWB.
Later
You're a good man, Skull!!! Thanks for taking some time to spend with a handicapped person!!! Betcha you made his whole week! Friend of mine works with mentally handicapped adults, too.. Whenever he has a client who expresses interest in cars he brings them by for the big tour and a bit of "seat time" in whatever is in the shop... I'm never sure who enjoys it more, them or me!!!!!
wiring today, l hate wiring:
started running the wires to the rear lights, headlights, figuring where switches go etc, etc.
it's a painless 14 circuit fuse box kit. some of the wires are a mile to long and some are almost to short.
fun, fun stuff.
