I couldn't find a crappy enough S10 or Ranger for cheap enough to go forward with " Project POS ".. so in lieu of that, I have decided to start a complete home fab Rat/ Hotrod ( body and all ).. Picked up some of the steel needed the other day, and will pick up the rest when it comes in ( they don't keep much in stock ).. keeping it simple, I'm going to use T bucket type suspension. spring behind/ cross steer on the front and leaf on the back

Can you title and Plate a Car Like that ? I have Heard even some of the Old car's are had to get Plates for Street use . Maybe start with an S-10 frame ?

it's possible to title and plate it with the street rod laws. also allows the legal use of blue dots

Just find yourself a cheap old truck cab. Could be easier to title and a good start. Anyway good luck on your build and most of all have fun.

What is project POS ? LFE

Good luck Matt, go for it. Where is your Chevy fleetline? Do you have current pictures? I checked your site before asking. I haven't been around too much had one con to deal with!!

I was going to reconstruct the cab of an S10 or Ranger, get rid of the fenders and bed and build somthing reminiscent of the 30's.. I was going to start with the crappiest Ranger or S10 I could find, hence " Project POS "

Fleetline is in the larger of my tent garage, I'm going to finish up what little needs to be done to it in the spring ( interior, emblems/ chrome and go thru everything and tighten up steering ). it's really too tight to work on in there so during the winter, I never get much done on it because I can't pull it out to work... the smaller tent garage is big enough to work on the much smaller vehicle, and it'll keep me busy for the winter

I'll have to get current pics of the Fleetline, I'v been thinking I should actully update that site for a while now lol. guess I gotta build another couple pages to upload

Looks Like you are off at a Good start . I have rebuilt some Truck and Trailer Frame's and we always gusset the Frames at these points . I have always wanted to ask one of the Street rod Builders why they don't do more reinforcing with gussets ? Maybe it's not needed I am not sure ?

I actully will be adding gussets, just want to get it togther and squared up first. never have seen it done, but it won't hurt anything having them

Matt167, I did the same thing to my frame. Gussetts are needed to give the extra strength you will need in the end of the build. I still need to add a couple more also.
