about 90% done with painting my ranchero. i did satin rattle can. i still have to do the bed and the roof (black with red scallops). still looking for a set of whitewalls for the passenger side though. :mad:
also just had to replace the starter and the solenoid, wouldn't start one night. other than that, she's running great!

it's a straight 6 170 with 3 on the tree. i know a guy who is building a 69 mustang fastback and just dropped a 350 cleveland into it and has a 302 laying around. i would like to have the 302, but my dad doesn't want to do the swap. and plus, it's all original and that's half the coolness; to me atleast.
Yeah!! Keep (Parts of, at least) that baby Original!
And if all else fails, you can always have an original one, and a clone of the original thats big blocked, posi'd, ladder barred, and loud.

fortunately, my dad has taught me right and i'm not gonna hack into the perfect dash to fit in a cd player or anything like that. i pulled into one little car show and parked next to the other rats, popped the hood and guy walks up and says "looks like she's brand new from 63." i love that. leaving it all how it was.
right now i'm actually falling in love with the customs, the 50s buicks and the lead sleds.
i'd love to have a 64 or 65 falcon with a 350 cleveland in it. someday...
this will have to do for now though.

Yup, cleaning and detailing under the hood is cheap to do, along with a lot of other little things that will not cost much, but improve the truck!!! No use taking on a project you can't afford right now. Looks like the Ranchero will do just fine. Congrats for having a bit of patience, unusual for guys your age!!!!!
yeah. my dad is proud to say i've done all the work on it and everything.
one question about it though. we replaced the valve cover gasket but not the valve cover itself. it just leaks oil like no other and i'm stumped on it. any ideas? it covers the entire side of the block and everything.
Sometimes the flange gets bent up from overtightening the cover... Best way is to use a hammer and a piece of steel as a backer, hammer it flat again so it can seal.
ok i'll try that. but the weird thing is, when i noticed oil all over the motor, i checked the bolts on it and they were finger loose, and then i tightened them, cleaned it all up, drove it 1 day, checked it that night and oil was all over again. i'll do that though, thanks.
