at gary's U pull it, where I got my cylinder head, I noticed like a 1939 or 1940 Ford truck, maby a diffrent year ( had no front sheet metal, which is how I ID vehicles ), but had 'nice' lines to the cab ( big 1 ton or better, had dual axles, cab is SOLID ), it had no front end, or anything, compleate with doors and glass ( not cracked ither ) so I told my mom who helped me ( on her birthday, none the less ), that it would look good with a little chop, and channeled down overtop of a boxed frame, and put a '30'a style grille in front of it ( this kind of look ), kind of setup like the 'rat rod' sytled trucks. well, for the sake of looking, I checked the price list, and for any truck cab " bare " is $99.99 + $4 core, and doors are $29.99 each so it isn't a bad price for everything, should I buy this for a 'future' project?, I'm going to Northwestern, and I could build the frame there, and probably chop the top, channel it over, and compleate the whole thing there and probablty even build a bed for it. of course, it would have a full interior, and paint.

matt that is dirt cheap & if cab looks like the pic its a 40's ford truck. so sheet metal from 40-47 will fit...joe

the belt line looks diffrent on that truck, It's a '36-'39 I'm pretty shure.

Far be it for me to vote against rat holing projects for future considerations, I'd have allready had the cab and doors loaded up and home!!!!!

yeah, I know the cab in the truck I posted the pic of, is a '40-'47 Ford, but I'm talking about the cab in the yard, by the pics you gave and the fact the grill shell was there, I think it was a '37.

yeah, if I had a truck there at the yard, it would be home, safe sitting on 4 cinder blocks and 2X4's nailed togther, but we had a car . I was going to pull a rear end for the Falcon too but, just couldn't fit it in the car. probably going up next week or the week after, I have to clear it with my father to get it, but he'll probably go for it, being it's not being built here, I'll build it at UNOH.


really not looking for a rat rod ither, I like the style of that rat truck, but nice shiney paint, and a comfy interior, is more what I'm into, mix the 2 styles togther, and it'll probably look pretty good.

thing about it is, it's at least a 1 ton ( probably 1.5 or better ) so the cab is larger than the 1/2-3/4 ton's, so it's going to need an engine in comparative size, want a Ford motor so I'll probably build a stroked 460 for it, blown possibly.probably build a full 6' bed for it, just to keep dimensions right. Advance Auto sells pre thinned laquer dupli color paint in like 6 colors for $19.99 per quart, so for approx $80 I could paint the entire truck.

the cab should be the same size as a 1/2T, they made up the size difference in the fender/hood/grille combo. you should be able to use 1/2T front metal should you choose to

oh yeah...,for that price snap it up, you can always resell it to help finance another project if you decide not to build it.
