I've mentioned his forum a few times on here, and I was one of the early members. Hotroddaddy sent me a PM and told me I should check out this new forum that was just getting started. That was back in Sept I think. At that time, when you would log on you were sometimes the only person on at that time. But there was something special about it even then, much like CHR. The first thing I noticed was that Austin was a gentleman. He has his head screwed on straight, and was always extremely polite and wanting good things to happen for his forum.

Right around December, I think, things got crazy on Killbillet, and a flood of new members started coming on board. Suddenly there were 50 things going on at one time, and Austin was still doing everything alone, so all the members had to act as unofficial Moderators and keep the new guys civil and understanding that no foul language or fighting would be tolerated. To everyones credit, we had very few problems.

What I like about that forum is what I also like about this one. Everybody is respectful of one another, and there is none of the bad lanquage and talking down to others, like you see on some other forums. Austin has done a great job in setting up and maintaining that atmosphere.

I looked through some of the posts. What I saw is that we are a bunch of "glitter boys" who simply write checks for everything and that most of us here don't know a thing about "real hot rods". I also noticed that at the car shows nobody looks at the "glitter boy" cars that the "rich guys" buy and "trailer" to all the events....

Sounds to me like the same old Rat Rod BS that has been going on since day one. I will say that the post are clean and not a lot of vulgarity, so congrats on maitining civility, anyway.

I'll never like Rat Rods, but I would fight to my last breath for someone's right to build them. Why do rat rodders seem to come on here one or two at a time and start bad mouthing us? There are two of my cars in my shop now, and I would venture to say there are more hand built parts (by me, not a checkbook) then there are on most rats...

I know the majority of the rat rodders are as talented as anyone here, that's never been a concern of mine. What concerns me is that I lived through the era when cops and the general public scorned ALL hot rodders, they made no distinction based on the type of rod it was. They hated us... What is scary to me is that the "fringe element" of the rat rod crowd, the unsafe cars with lousy brakes, poorly placed and mounted fuel tanks, etc. who are so dang dead set serious about being anti-safe and sane hot rodder are going to do something really stupid that will result in the deaths of a lot of innocent people. Then it isn't a rat rodder, it was a Hot Rodder and we will all suffer the consequences. I don't want to be back in the days when I had to sneak out of town on the backroad so the cops wouldn't get me. Sure, it could be a car one of us "glitter boys" build, too. I'm concerned someone is just going to be so dead set against us that they will be out to prove just how crazy they can be.... Hopefully I am way off base with these concerns. In many states, Hot Rodders are about one law away from being legislated out of existence anyway. Let's not give these do-gooders a chance to throw our beloved sport of Hot Rodding back in time 40 years to the days that we are all hoodums again.....Please.....

I live out here in cali where everything has to be perfect and shiney/they sniff the butt of your car to make sure it smells ok and everyone lives in houses that look identical and perfect....phoooyey :LOL:
I want on that can be door dinged in parkin lot and not contemplate killin people over it.Something that can be used on a daily basis and not have to be polished,unlike the engine I have now,I want to have fun in it and not be scared to do a burn out in it......I have had some old beater pick-ups and they were alot of fun to play in and abuse:LOL:
I used to do some abusive driving and I would not feel good doing that in a show ride:rolleyes:
I do like paint and matching stuff ,just not 3,000 hrs of block sanding /like my current ride is taking:CRY:

Hot rod, Rat Rod, Gasser, Muscle cars, Original, Modified, mini trucking, low riders laying frame, imports, ricers , Jacked up 4 wheel drives. All kinds of cars and hobbys.

My point is I dont go to the ricer forum and tell them that in my opinion, there cars suck.

I just cant understand how some street rodder can feel like his hobby/image is some how tarnished because another man has a rusty RatRod

And what if I dont like rust on cars or cars modified in any way, do you really think others really care how I feel?

Just as a point of interest, the car is on Ebay right now and is at $ 13,500.00, with 26 bids and almost two days to go. Austin also used lots of new parts in the build, here is a list from his Ebay ad.

i was there and seen this project being done , not that my opin. means anything on this forum anyway they did a good job on this. and im not the one thats doing the bashing or with the attitude . as far a rat rods going away i think people with closed eyes better open them up how many years is people going to keep saying its just a another new thing there will be something coming around the corner i dont like because im right and your wrong

it hasnt change its just a word ,you like your nice some guys dont. somebody decided to put a name to it and people hate it. if everybody took there energy of hate for each others stuff and put it towrds fightng against these epa a##hats the fight may get easyer. pretty soon it will be remember when there were hotrods. we might want to teach are children how to build hotrods are way but they might not get a chance . not because they dont have a floor board more because there isnt any cars left because there all crushed thanks to epa and others

Well, don't blame the agency, blame the people WE sent to Washington who make these ridiculous laws.... Get politically active and stay informed on proposed and existing laws that effect hot rodding, or watch the sport go away..... The VOTE is still the single most effective method of counteracting laws to limit and or ban hot rodding....

im very informed on this matter. the epa is a agency that runs itself you or me cant vote who works for them, Your from SD did ever see Daschles law on the book where he wanted to crush every thing ten years or older. the minute i read that i call Rep Al Waltman he was customer and Dem. he checked in to it and it lost .

The EPA did not exist until 1970... It didn't just come into being by osmosis. The people we sent to Washington created the agency.

By the way, that was Lady Bird Johnson who authored the crush em legislation and it was introduced in congress by the two senators from her home state, Texas. Tom Dascle wasn't involved.....

You know what i think, all the guys in office now that hate hot rods are the guys that got beat up or there girls stollen in high school by all the hot rodders back in the day, they are paying you back. They are the guys who put the fake pipe on so it would look like they have duals.

Tom had a similar bill and i will find and post it i just got to remember were its at i used to have hanging on my bulletin board at my business. why must you put words in my mouth . did i say anything about it being lost or maybe your just right i will just let sema fight the fight emissions has changed again for the auto. industry. anther 17% . if this keeps happening the auto industry will have to find ways to agree with the EPA (you know the people that have nothing to do with the way it is just who we vote for ) 37 years is along time ago , the way they run it now is different.

your right im wrong . i will join green peace tomorrow , build a tree house tell everybody that sema is my only hope for tomorrows hotroder. Or i will keep writing letters to EPA or reps. in wash. i feel im on the same page as Dave but he doesnt like me so it will always be a fight

They can make all the laws they want,but who they gunna get for minimum wage to die trying to enforce them.....I am not just going to surrender anything..... car /property/ or freedom.....I will have the 12 guage and the 50 cal at the end of the driveway asking the age old question..................is it a good day fer ya to die ,becuase it is for me:eek: :rolleyes:

Letters to a bureaucracy like the EPA are meaningless. The only way to change anything is to change the people who are in Washington DC and support SEMA and other such organizations who are well organized and know who to talk with about negating the changes that have a negative impact on Hot Rodding. If you don't have the right people in office, no amount of letter writing will do a bit of good...... The only thing these clowns cleverly disguised as politicians care about is their overpaid jobs. The power of the vote is the only leverage we have to effect what decisions they make!!!!!

So, just exactly what would going out in a hail of bullets accomplish???? Willingness to die for a cause though admirable, is totally ineffective... As I have said and will keep on saying, the only thing that will accomplish change is the power of the vote!!!!!!

Calm down there gasser, i was just poking fun of the situation, i was not saying anybody was right or wrong, i stay out of politics, and i usually stay out of this hot rod/ rat rod war nobody involved is gonna change there opinion anyway so dont take it personaly when im being a smarta$$, just trying to ease up the tention.

The lincoln was for body only, look closely at the front end, those weren't from a 11o. The guy on the left is Brian and on the right is Slink. I have been in the car and it is safe, it ain't their first build. Each to their own but nontheless all cars are art and a sign of personality, so if yours is high dollar so be it. We all wanna build somthin, just some have more $ than others. At least we're tryin. Could be doin worse things.. The body was not that solid, It took a lot of repair to get it there, not restorable. You want perfection and beauty buy a glass one. Point being a lot of people at a huge rat rod show in vegas wanted to see how it was done and they did it. In 17 hours. It took months of planning to prep the trip. I myself respect anything custom, new, or old, it is all a cool part of using your mind and skill. If ya wanna see more on the build slide on over to killbillet.com. Won't be much billet there but a lot of cool people who have helped a new guy like myself out a lot, and they are not all rat rodders. " A narrow mind leads to narrow paths"
