Donny was working on the final welding on the frame. You see, we are not going to have a air tank for the rear bags, so we thought it would be cool to use the frame....Yeah I said the frame, we figured out that the 2x4 box tube is the same as a 5 gal air tank. So we are going to weld the fittings on the rail and let it sit for 24 hours and see if we have any pressure drop. But we will not, Donny is the king of welding. He started bending the radious rods for the front end. They are going to look killer.
PICS!!!

Man oh man, I hope everyone got their emails back. Did you guys see that HAMB thead with the teacher? Poor guy got ripped down over liking my car?
Well to hell with all of them! So on to the stuff from today. We pulled apart the rear end to see what the brakes looked like. Yep...all junk. So we bought all new parts, a few bucks. But it will stop and safty has no price limit on this car. Donny fabed up the rad rods in like 2 hours...this guy is champ. Oh yeah, dig the welding job on the frame rails....

That is some very nice fabrication and welding work on the car!!! Looks like you have the right man doing the work with you!!!!
Looks like a fun little car. Using the frame for onboard air is a trick I learned 4 wheeling. I used a air pump out of a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I hard wired in with a simple on/off switch and pumped to a boxed frame. It had an inboard gauge that I used to keep an eye on the amount of air pressure when needed. It was great for airing up tires after a day of 4 wheeling.
Yeah the frame tank is a old 4x4 trick. We were thinking of using an air tank, but why when we have that nice big frame. There are no plans for a compresor, we will just fill up the frame and call it good. After all the bags are for the ride, and they were cheap. It's made to sit level with air in the bags. When they are flat the car will sit too low in the rear.

Back from another porductive day. We got the car tore down all the way. Donny welded the frame, now it's all done. I took the motor out and took the tranny off the old motor getting it ready for the new small block. We want to put front and rear seals on the tranny before we blot it back up. While Donny welded, I blasted zinc coating off blots and started the pass seat.
We are going to get the front and rear susp back on the car Saturday and start workin on the brake lines!!!!!!!
Oh and I took my old big body out of storage and started drive it around today.

Don
We have about 30 days till it needs to drive down the road. Will it be done....yeah never.
Now, on to today. We started putting the car back togather today, the front and rear susp is back in. We started on brake lines too, mostly putsy stuff today. Here you are.
And new thoughts or ?'s....?

So we aged the intake mani, made a custom PCV port in the block. Cuasr the newer small blocks are not cast like the old ones. We changed a few seals and put the tranny on the new motor. Also dig the braket Donny made for the alt.

Well there was big things today, the motor and tranny are back in for good and all plumed. The fuel line is done, the positive and ground are run and bolted in place. The brakes are done and bled. Donny is going to finish welding up the bottom side of the body.....then we can get it back down for good on the frame.

Right on, looks like you might make it.
Movin right along........
I do not see how you can resist the urge to clean and paint and make it shiney:LOL:
Its a downhill process for me once I touch things....
It starts well ,let me clean the grease off that soo I do not get dirty, better get it all off,so it looks uniform atleast, now that all the grease is off it looks pretty good,....but it would look better painted and shiney, I will just hit it with the brake clean so its clean,Hmmmmm now that its clean all its lacking is some cheap spray paint and it would look brand new,,,,,,I have a little paint left in that one can, spray it on and bam shiney new part:LOL:
Thats pretty much why I am on year 4 of a engine swap:LOL:
I was thinking that at 1st, but all the parts on this car look like they have been togather for years. I do not belive that this car will ever be painted....while I own it.

More progress was made today. I got the other seat done, while done dreamed up the head light supports and shock mounts. I also set the rear 3 windows in and got them ready. We still have some work to do when the body goes back on, so the windows will be dead last.

More little things finished up today. We made the straps for the gas tank. Welded the tail light buckets on, finished the streering, cut a hole in the floor to get to the master. Got the seat belts out of the parts car. I started checking all the nuts and bolts to make sure I did not miss anything.
Wait till you see the dash and door cards we have going on.....

Gotta love that Schlitz can coil cover. I drank a lot of that stuff in the mid to late 60's.
The 60's hmmmm...well that was 20 years before I was born, but I did think that the can for 2 bucks was the best money i have spent on the car!:toocool:
you sure look like you are having a lot of fun, reminds me of when i was working on my '36 chrysler. When do you plan on having it on the road ??
