Brought another F-1 home, now all I need is a drivetrain.
I got a second F-1. I needed steering so I figured what the hay, buy another truck. Actually I got it for $220 so I couldn't turn it down.

So many things to figure out, wheelbase, where the motor should sit, where to cut to z the frame?????? I am working it out little by little while I disassemble, so hopefully when I am ready to cut, I know where to cut!

I don't know if I will ever figure out the frame mods!! I have "decided" ten times now how I was lowering, cutting, z-ing this frame, and I always hit a snag. I wanted to z the front and the back, but the frame would be too short, so I decided to just z the back by overlapping the frame, and the crossmembers are in the way to box the inside of the frame. I guess I will have to move the crossmembers before I cut the frames (I am using parts of two frames to get the length I need). It should work out as then I will have a crossmember at each end of the frame pcs. I put together. The only problem is the crossmember in the front will be under the cab so it will have to intrude into the cab, another cab mod! Oh well, I guess once I cut something I have settled on a plan and will go with it. Right now all I do is measure and ponder.

Sometimes you just have to start cutting and make adjustments as you go. I guess Engineers are able to figure out exact clearances and where every component goes before they ever start, but as a backyard builder, I never have. I just start building and make changes as I go. Sometimes you scrap stuff and start over, but eventually you will come up with solutions.
Like Brian said one time, (paraphrasing) we don't have a blueprint for these things and it isn't like we are making multiple versions, so you just adjust as you go.
Start on one end, tack it up then move to the other and see how it fits. If you need to make changes, so be it, but you have to start somewhere.
Fire up the torch !!!

Ever look at, or work on a factory built car? If so, that should answer your question on Engineers.I don't care how rich people do it!
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
