I tried to do as much as possible on the chassis before trying to mount the body and at this point I had not received the body, although I was ordering the Total Performance parts as specified by Bebops. The last minute upgrade to Power brakes was my decision. I also originally planned to use a 2.73 rear gear with a rebuilt GM TH350 trans but I studied the gear ratios and Tech1 alerted me to the advantage of the lower first gear and the OD of the 700R4. I learned by reading articles that the stock 700R4 is a bit weak so I ordered a street race upgrade of a 700R4 from Monster Motorsports in Florida. Brian Rupnow recommended a 3.55 rear gear and with the 700R4 I have a first gear a little lower than the first gear of a '47 Ford 3-speed with a 3.78 rear gear as well as an OD for better mpg. My memories are calibrated on a mild 59-AB flathead with a 3.78 rear so the 700R4 goes deeper on low gear and higher in the OD. Note this modified 700R4 has a hydraulic shift to/from OD, not electric.
