This is a find! needs to be on a vintage racer! It is a Latham supercharger according to some of my research. There was one listed a week or so ago. See link...........this one is for a small block chevy and is complete other than a belt, balancer pulley, carb, and
hose from the carb manifold to the blower intake. All of which could easily be found or made with inginuity.
It was in a garage packed away for years and I was told by the guy I bought it from it was on a very early vette raced in the late 50's. There are no marking plates on it. There is one spot that looks as though it was built up with epoxy to get more gasket sealing but it is not cracked! There is one pictured on a car at http://personal.riverusers.com/~bird...d%20engine.htm . This vintage supercharger was made over 40 years ago and was a street rodders dream at that time. Less then 1000 were made in the late 50's thru the 1960's. It is truly a work of art and a fine example of engineering excellence. Made to jet engine tolerances of ten-thousandths of an inch, it is constructed of the finest high strength aircraft aluminum alloys. It operates very similar to a gas turbine engine and utilizes 10 sets of alternating varying pitch blades to compress air or supercharge it in 10 stages. Designed to operate at speeds over 40,000 rpm, it is over 80% efficient. This compares to 50% - 60% for a centrifugal or Roots type blowers.
