33 Ford Chassis

I need a show quality 33 Ford chassis with all Kugel Komponents. Do you know of anyone?

Thanks rspears for the welcome aboard. I am looking at several options for a show build, the American Speed 33 car, the Mirage from Kugel, the Brookville roadster and the 33 roadster from Factory Five Racing. My thoughts are with the American Speed 33 because it is all steel, convertible, more room inside and out and it does not look like everyone else 33 design. If you have some input on these cars I would like to hear your reply. Stay in the good fight, for the rewards are many.

Welcome Chasman! Of those on your list, I'd agree on your preference for a show car. For a driver, I'm thinking a factory five.. my point oh two, fwiw, yada yada yada.:LOL:

I looked at Factory 5 about three years back and initially liked what I saw, but then the more I looked the less I liked some of their "innovations". What really turned me off was that when you really look the only similarity to a true '33 is the grille. The other body lines have been tweaked, some more than others, and that tall space frame that you have to step over to get into the car didn't work for me. Another was the removable hard top - lines didn't work for me, and that gasket space? I'm too much of a traditionalist in the "looks" arena. If you're truly doing a show car I don't see the Factory Five getting you there - it's a purpose built car, and the purpose is road course style driving.
I kinda like the American Speed 33. All steel, but roll up windows and a convertible top are cool. It has a "traditional" look, or you can go with the stylized grille, etc, if that's where you want to be. Brookville? About as bone stock as you can get, right? Good quality, and do what you want to make it yours. I had not looked at the Kugel Mirage, but it's got some neat features and Kugel is top notch. I especially like the 3" longer cockpit & doors which is nice for a tall guy or gal - a Deuce design with good proportions, IMO.
Keep us in the loop on your plans. Any build is a good build!!

The Factory 5 is a sports car and "kinda" resembles a 33 and they make no bones about it. Hard to climb into / out of but handles oh so nice! 8-)

In their own testing, it's faster than the cobras! Now that's a hot rod! LOL..

If I were in that market I'd opt for the Speed 33. The young man who runs the operation used to work for ASC and was involved in the development of the Dearborn Deuce. He utilized all the good features of the DD, and fixed some of the bad. As a 6 footer I especially like how you don't have to look through the upper windshield frame in a natural seating position, and the legroom is very good. The last one I saw was at SEMA a couple years ago and the fit/finish was very good. I think he's hit the nail pretty well in the design so that the car can pull off either a traditional look or a more contemporary vibe. Kugel does good work too, just that the Mirage is more the swoopy style that has a narrow appeal for both good and bad reasons. The FF? I choose to say nothing at all.....................

All Kugel components, as in IFS and IRS??? Imo, no place to go but Kugel's as most other frames are just copying their frame to make their suspension components work.....

I built a Deuce for a guy years ago with all Kugel IRS and IFS....... It handles waaaaaayyyy to nice to waste all the goodies on a show car!!!!! The car I did was 20+ years ago and it still gets pounded on regularly and with only routine maintenance on the chassis and suspension still handles like an over-sized go kart!!!! A couple years back it was upgraded with a 4.6 DOHC with Kenne Bell supercharger and a 5 speed....A very fun ride now with 500+ at the wheels!!!!

But I guess if you want all that just riding in the trailer from show to show, it's your car!

Curious, what is the overall theme of the build? Very important to have a plan from the beginning to get all the components to compliment each other and the theme of the build!!!!!!

Some have asked about the overall theme of this build. I am a very devout Christian man, Baptist, who desires to promote others to accept the Christian faith. If I can build this car and have people to ask how this build came about then, the door is open to share my faith. Some may walk away yet some may accept, my job is to plant the seed.

Well, that's commendable, but probably doesn't have a whole lot to do with picking parts and pieces for the car..... Is the car to be a "traditional" type build, or a more modern look of a '33? Engine to be used matters too. If your after a 60's look, then a Coyote 5.0 with a Supercharger wouldn't look right and a flathead with a Scott's blower would be out of place on a car with a modern look...... It's always been my opinion that proper planning before any of the parts are bought is just as important as the components themselves.

Full fendered or Hi-boy? Big and Little's for tires and rims, or wires with skinny's and hubcaps? Just some of the many, many things to consider before starting to write the big checks!!!!!
