Does anyone know where I can get an air cleaner like this? The diameter of the carburetor throat in approx. 2 1/4". Thanks for any hints or suggestions.

You will spend the money to get it done but I would try someone like K&N.Quote:

Looks similar to the ones I have on my Olds, but it is a 2 5/8". Usually found on 1 and 2 barrel carbs. I know you get them from most hotrod shops, JC Whitney, the NightProwlers.com, Hot Rod and Custom Supply, Speedway, and probably Autozone, Advanced Auto and many other places. Lot of places sell the filter with a new unit for about $10. Erik is right, K&N have just the filters for about $30 each. They are cleanable life time filters, but not sure they are worth the extra bucks. I have K&N's on my Olds, but see no real improvement over the paper ones.
Something adjustable would be okay. Whats on there now is a big old oil bath type air cleaner-original but takes up a lot of space. It has an adjustable collar-when you put it on the carb, you must turn a long handled screw type arrangement that tightens it up so no air can get by it.
Even if I could find an adjustable paper filter that would adjust down to 2 1/4", that would be great.
The car in the picture is a 1950 Dodge. I imagine most Mopars of the era would be about the same.
Are you just trrying to get a filter refill for your hopusing or are you looking at a whole filter assy?
For a little filter like that i would also look at a small engine shop lots of little industrial engines have filters like that.
if you want something with a bigger element you can either build one out of aluminum top and bottom or get a custom top and just build the bottom with the right size hole .
Speedway sells a house brand version, washable, cotton, just like K&N, 3 7/8 diameter (fits most of the custome 2 bbl types) for $8Quote:

If you don't need that exact filter, why not make your own from sheetmetal, then you can choose size & shape. I searched forever to find dual Holley set-ups, but everything is for Edelbrock. K&N calculated the flow I'd need and told me what minimum size filter I'd need and I built around that. Cost $9 for an e-bay element and some sheetmetal.
