Wanted: Model A rear bumper and brackets.

Every time I stop with the roadster pickup, the traffic behind me looks like it is preparing to mount the back of my truck!!! This is kinda disconcerting, to say the least.:CRY: :CRY: If anybody out there has a complete 1928-1929 model A rear bumper, with good chrome (I'm talking about the split rear bumper, which is actually two short bumpers), email me thru the forum, and let me know what you want for it.---Brian

Thanks Pat---but it would cost more to rechrome them than to buy repops.

Brian, if they are getting that close to your rear, the bumpers are only going to give you a good feeling that there is something between you and the guy behind you. Other than that, they're likely to be thinner than a quarter in less than a microsecond when the impact comes.:eek:

But if interested in cosmetics, they will work just fine.:LOL:

Mopar34 You could be right---but then again---right now the box extends about 8 " past the end of the frame. And its only held to the frame by six 3/8 diameter bolts. and the box only sets about 3/4" behind the back of the cab section. I was thinking more in terms of personal protection. At least the bumpers would be attached to the frame. I would rather have the frame take the lions share of a rear inpact, rather than the sheet metal, and then me. Probably in a high speed accident, the bumper would do very little, but its the in town 30 MPH crashes from behind that concern me.

I have found that nothing seems to get people's attention to their brakes faster than having a big extension hitch in my tow bar receiver with a 2" chrome ball attached. Sits about 8 inches behind the street rods bumper and gives the impression of being a radiator killer.:LOL: :LOL:

My rear bumper consists of a custom aluminum tube about 4 feet long and 2.5 inches in diameter. Nice to know it's there, don't think it will do much good except maybe hit me in the head during impact thereby reducing the likelihood of lingering pain. :eek: :CRY: :CRY:
