it will all depend on what else is inside the motor, type of pistons etc....camshaft......i personally like old iron heads from the early 70's....1971 LT1 330hp heads with number 487 are pretty good heads, they came with hardened exhaust valve seats. Intake is 1.94" and exhaust is 1.6" . these are fairly reasonably priced. Anytime yu get into heads that have the "x" behind the casting number you will pay a fair bit of money because of the 2.02 large intake valves. I would stay away from the 882 late model heads due to the thin walled casting.....if you want a slightly smaller intake valve go with the "416" casting heads...the intakes are 1.84" with 1.5" exhaust...and have a 58cc cumbustion chamber. This head will increase your compression ratio slightly but for a mild engine this head would work well, might want to do a gasket match on both intake and exhaust ports to aid in the flow. good luck.old habits die hard
