Question Ford 429 Big Block COMPLETE Engine for SALE

I have a complete Ford 429 Big Block DOVE-C engine, from a '70 Thunderbird, runs good, never rebuilt, also has a C-6 Tranny to go along with it, looking for a buyer fast. I'm moving out of state and don't want to haul it with me. Any interested parties??? I'd like to get at least $1000 for it. Have pics.

I just picked up my first poject car and Im kinda lerning as I go. It is a 64 falcon with a strate six. It had been sitting in a scrap yard some years. I pulled the valve cover off and found bits and chunck of metel not good.Would your moter work in my car?

the 429 will not fit in your falcon without some major modifications, the shock towers are to close for it to even fit in the engine compartment. it is possible to alter them to fit wider engines in your falcon but i do not know if a 385 series would fit even with these alterations, they are very large engines physically.

btw, its good to see another falcon owner here, you should check out tffn.net (the ford falcon news) the forum ther is the best falcon place on the web.

A big block Ford can be put into a Falcon, but it is neither cheap nor easy. The Falcon is a unibody car, so no real frame structure to deal with. To do it right, you would have to change the front to a Mustang II type suspension and add at least a 6 point cage plus some down tubes from a cowl hoop to the front of the frame. Also a bit or reinforcement is in order on the front subframe rails. I've done a couple Falcons, Mustangs this way. When you are done, these mods along with some frame ties and a good stout 9" rear end with the proper rear suspension and you will have a genuine street monster!!! Bring it on over to my place, got everything you need, even a couple of extra 460's!!!!!

depending what kind of budget you've got the falcon can be done to a big block.... but its easiest and cheaper to stick with a smallblock.... and even then the 351 is a tight fit..... but you could fit a well built 302/347 in there easily..... and relatively cheap,,,, you just gotta weld up the shock towers, change your motor mount brackets, sway bar, add a shock tower bar, get front spindles for 5 lug with discs and get an 8 inch or a 9inch rearend.... you will also want to get the tranny rebuilt.... i did the same conversion on mustang and the tranny for the 6cyl just couldn't stand up to my 302 for too long, blew in a matter of weeks...

Smiley, since the post you've responded to was dated May 2006, and the last time "PrettyLady" was active on the forum was the day she posted that thread I'd say your chances are somewhere between Slim and None, but good luck to you in your quest. I guess it never hurts to ask.
