I just discovered I have a cracked cylinder, and need to find another block. Trying to save a little money, either start over or go with a block that is already built. If someone has a 351C .030 over setting around let me know. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.
maybe you should consider sleeving the cracked cylinder------
Thought of that, but how long before another one goes, The block has been run pretty hard.

yep no big deal put put a sleeve in it a keep rolling i put then in all the time. long as the crack just in bore and is not going in to the bulk head /main web or coming out of the bore in threw head deck threw bolt hole and out to the out side water jacket just did a bbc likes this crower rod just about cut the block in half .i fixed blocks like i listed. just takes abit of skill and cost is more . is block was my first big 572 enging over 20years ago when. if you had over 500 cid you had the world by the ass . i sold the engine many years ago. seen some time in the mud racing deal with much Nos ...after many hard runs over 7000.rpm guy blew it up before that some one did not drain the block and busted the jacks so i welded it work fine.i had to get up on the deck this time . when he lost the rod it broke a main cap started to spin out the mains so had a crack in the bore that started 1/2 from bottom of bore and came up in out threw head bolt hole then on deck and out to out side of block . welded the chips in the pan rail cut out deck welded it and weld the outside jacket then put in a timescert fix bolt hole .then bored for a thick wall sleeve after put all new steel caps on the block the block never was line bore so one main may not clean at a line bore of .0004 drop so i had the block sprayed in the main so to build it up for a clean pass when i line bored it .still keeping it were the crank was not way up in the block and play wth a line bore chain sets after this i bored it to 4.600 and 4.500 crank and now has a new life as a 598cid . i posted this just to let you know there are some guy that do not throw the pig out after you get the bacon. some point you can get were another block. this maybe is best deal. as this was GM 10.200 bowtie race then block costed more back then. now to build and now days there are better blocks for big power. back then there was nothing but bow tie blocks. so it had many hours in it to build to 572. i own a engine machine shop . so fixing it was some thing that was going to happen .i would not say it.s as good as new but not to far off the mark . she going to see hi 900hp to 1000.hp this is not the first block i done that was hurt this bad. when guys have 5000.+ in machine work and the block. we fix them. run them
Thanks guys for all the info, have decided to pull it down and take it in for a sleeve, sounds to be the most logical way to go.
