It is the radiator coolant overflow container. Without one, when your engine heats up, the coolant expands and "pukes" some coolant out the overflow tube onto the ground. With a properly designed "puke tank", they contain that overflow, and when the engine cools down and the coolant contracts a bit, the extra coolant will be siphoned back into the engine and radiator.

That is a cute lil' puke tank. Not like the "through the frame rails & dump it in the bucket" units T/F & F/C 's run.

A puke tank is used instead of breather to keep oil from getting everywhere when it burps out the breathers. If you have hot oil get on a valve cover then drip down oon to a header you have a big problem. Although if you had that much oil released form a breather you have a much bigger problem. LOL
Puke tanks are commonly seen on high performane motors with or without Vacume Pumps. Once the vacume is created the oils has to go somewhere(a tank). There is no return line.
Oh and BUMP
new price $175. this would cost aqlmost $500 new.Last edited by dennis555; 10-03-2008 at 03:45 PM.
