The guy building it is using a good sprag, hardened input, and a whole bunch of other trick parts that I know absolutely nothing about!!!!!!  I just told him what I wanted and he's building it. I know the 400's eat up a lot of horsepower, same thing the builder said and due to the light weight (under 3,000) he said the 350 will work fine. It's mostly going to be a street car, maybe a blast or two at some of our local "unsanctioned events" on Saturday evenings...  I certainly appreciate all the good input on this, though....
Oh yeah, I'm sure it will need a good cooler, been looking at the new ones that come with the electric fan and don't have to be mounted in front of the radiator.... Look kewl, might get one and mount it in the trunk. The cars going to have a 6 point bar and no backseat, might as well put a cooler back there to keep the battery and fuel cell company, I guess...

IMO, except in rare instances, the 700 R4 is junk ...........
Let me put it this way.
The stator (casing) is fundamentally flawed for anything but low HP apps ......

I'm starting to think the same thing, Kitz... One of the guys just gernaded his last night, magor blowup, took out the case and everything!!!! Had about 400 horse going through a "well built" high dollar TCI 700..... It would seem GM must have cut some corners in putting together what should be a good performance transmission.

i don't agree with the junk part. i think most people don't know how to adj. the TV cable and run it in overdrive, when it should be in drive. its a good idea to not to put in overdrive until you get above 50 mph. JMO
