1977 Lincoln Versailles w/ 9" disc rear end

1977 Lincoln Versailles for sale. Throw it on a trailer or drive it home.

This car has the 9" rear end with disc brakes. The 351 engine still runs good at 133,000 miles. Body is in good shape, with some minor rust. Paint is faded on trunk and driver's side. Transmission is starting to grind, but still runs reliably. Two newer Goodyear tires, front brakes and exhaust replaced within the last year. Asking $500 in Madison, WI. Contact me by email at:

Does your wife like living in a salvage yard as much as you do?

$500 is for the whole car. Rip out the engine and rear end and scrap the rest if you like. Never hurts to have a spare 351 lying around.

It seems like everybody around here has a $500 car for sale. If I wait long enough they pay me to haul them to the junkyard. If there's anything worth saving I take it home first and take off what I want. Old Lincolns are hard to sell. You would do better parting it out. A 9 inch rear with drum brakes goes for $200 to $300 around here. (The next time I need one I'm going to buy it in upstate New York where they're cheaper.) and a good 351 with the tranny should bring the $500 if you sell it without a Lincoln attached. Even though it's free advertising here you would have better luck with a local classified ad magazine. especially if you try to sell the parts instead of the whole car.You can wait till the engine sells before you pull it so the buyers can hear it run. Maybe you could get the buyer to pull it or charge extra to pull it for them. You'll still have to pay someone to haul it away but you'll have someone else's money to pay for it.

In my area the baby Lincoln rear ends with disc are bringing $400.00 to $500.00. Then, ya have to change the rear gear ratio anyway as they seem to have a pretty tall gear in em. May be great for gas mileage, but I ain't lookin for gas mileage.

The neighbor has a big old SUV that he complains about his 4 and 5 mpg. Maybe when the gas prices get cheaper, I will start adding some gas to it.
