Painting my 53'
Well i have a 1953 chevy 3100 pickup and its currently all primer black. I want to leave it a flat black but i woul like to paint some flames on it. Im trying to get it to look as old as i can despite the 350, powerglide, 9"ford, andntecarlo front clip. Im curious about what color and kind of flames to paint?
If you would like to see some pictures of my truck you can visit my website at: www.freewebs.com/fury786/thetruck.htm

You could paint flames using a clear coat to get kind of a ghost effect. The traditional colors would be yellow/ orange w/red licks, pin striped in blue.

I would have to agree with don bad boy flames would be cool although the flat black or satin black wont wheather well If you go and put all that money in to the flame work the flames will out last the paint If It were I .I'd go base coat I just thought I would put my 2 cent in

Thanks guys, the reason im painting it a flat color is to hide all the imperfections in the body. when i got the truck it was nothing but rust and bondo covered by loads of paint. and i thanks for the flame colors, i have a stelleto dragster that is painted the same way and i love it.
