Hey guys, and especially Spray Tech, I was at the PPG shop and bought the cheapest Primer I could get, LAQEUR PRIMER, and yes I know Laqeur is spelled wrong. I was told by the guy I could reduce it with Laquer thinner, from any shop or store, like Wal-mart or any place. Tell me if this is true or not and give me the mixing ratio for it. Thanks guy!!!!
Every can of primer I ever bought had the mixing instructions on the label.
...... and I've never been a fan of hardware store laquer thinner other than maybe for cleanup. Stick with the same brand as the primer.
BTW: If you're looking to use this primer under a finished paint job, I wouldn't use cheap primer either. A paint job is only good if you use quality products throughout the paint process.
If your just priming it for that "Rat Rod" look, spray the cheap stuff.

I would guess that it was DZ-3 Lacquer Primer?
Good High build primer in its day.( and still is)
I used to use it many years ago , and was a very good primer.
I would use a good PPG grade Thinner ( I think if memory serves me would be the DTL Thinners )as the cheap stuff might not have the chemicals in it to help with longevity of the primer.
A Gallon of good grade thinner from PPG shouldnt be more then 20 bucks i would think.
Buy a gallon of cheap stuff for clean up , and use the good thinner in your primer:3dSMILE:

I have the MP281 primer. I went ahead and got some Dupont laqeur thinner for it, but i still need the mix ratio, it is PPG primer so i know its good stuff. thanks guy!!
This is from my lacquer painting memory of quite a few years ago, but I always mixed it 1:1. Tweaked it a little one way or another depending on how it flowed.
Just wondering, since ive never seen a lacquer primered car, what does it look like? I wanted to do my T bucket in something more traditional.

Hey that aint u is it pro70 z28 with butterfly collar and them bell bottom(street sweepers)!!!!!!!!!!:LOL: I gatta pic of me with the green and gold turtle neck and tha brown courteroy pants lol!! Just have to remember where I hid it!!!!
