painting the truck
ok, 88 chevy pickup, body work's done, i want to paint it black, flat black, not primer, paint, im having someone do it for me, but i just wanted to know..what you you guys do, the paint is just faded, it doesnt need to be completely stripped to bare metal, what would you sand it with? explain the process to me, im new to painting and want to learn the trade.
spray tech, you should be able to help me here

if you have the body work in primer, and the rest of the vehicle just has dead paint, I would block sand the primed areas with 220 dry , then buzz it all down with 320- 400 grit on a DA, and seal and shoot :)

what's the best sealer? and what paint would you go with?
-
I wouldnt buy anything expensive beings you want it flat, no reason to go to all the expense.
I think all Major paint lines have a cheap line of paint, go with that.

When I asked a guy at the parts counter for a price on Flat Black he said around 50 bucks, and that was at a local napa and for martin senour paint.
