What is the best way to remove a hack job done with bodyfiller ?
I've already taken a lot out of the fender whilst knocking out some of the bad dents, but there is a 1/4 " thick layer all over this one fender . " This stuff is still gummy! " .
I tried heating the back of the fender with a torch, but I don't want to do more damage then good.
any one have a better solution the setting out there with a scraper and grinder ? :rolleyes: or buying another fender ?

Paint stripper and a putty knife works well. The getting a new fender option isn't always the best because they don't always fit quite right, and the quality of the stamping isn't as good. The wheel wells are generally fairly wrinkly on the aftermarket fenders. I can get GM fenders for my truck, but they are $400. Just get it close to where you want it with a slide hammer and fill the rest with lead.
I use the torch on the bondo not the back of the fender. Just use enough heat to soften it but not set it on fire. Then it's easy to scrape it off with a putty knife. If the fender is that bad you can't ruin it with a little heat. If it's banged up really bad I would take it off the car to bang out the dents.

the peddle ,car is coming along " waiting for wheels and tires right now" and masking FlamEs!!! :D
'49 is getting new cab corners as soon as I decide where to get them ( or make them ????? ) , the seat springs for it has been sand blasted and treated w/extend & are getting measured and fitted now " me and the wife are making the covers for the seats " :D . inside cab is about 50% complete, body is still getting massaged a little ! ? ! ... " I'm slow ya know " :LOL:
and the '78 nova firewall got scraped ! "we ended up painting it" - yu would've only been able to see about 6 or 8" of stainless !
