Navy, none of the "real" painters are answering so I'm tossing out that it makes a difference what paint you choose. If you're shooting single stage I've had some that mixes 1:1 with catalyst, some 2:1 and one that was 4:1 so the sprayable volume of a gallon goes from 1.25 to 2.0. Shooting inside and out, cab, fenders, hood & bed I'd say you'll need at least a gallon. Red pigment seems to be about the most pricey, but none of it's cheap any more.
Most basecoats can be shot @ 2/1
Having done a few 40's over the years I'd buy 6 qts (always nice to have more than not enuf.
As Roger said "Grab yer wallet" reds are spendy.
As for clear I'd recommend SPI Universial @ approx $250 for 2 sprayable gallons.

spi has 2 reds both good price. if your flipping the truck 6 qrts , if your going to keep it 2 gals. pour what is left into qrt cans and keep . have the gals mixed together and shaken . then pour it all into qrt cans. better match . last qrt in a gal is usually wothless .
What Shine said, Forgot that SPI has 2 reds, some of the best product I've used in the 45 + years of painting.

Been in the autobody fixit biz for over 30+ years and have also painted custom Harleys with both laquer and base/clear systems. But have no idea what "SPI" paint products are. Can you put that in English for this new kid on the block?....RooDog
PS: I'm currently using Glasurit base/clear cause that what the dealership I last worked in was using.....

Just a quick comment that may or may not apply to your situation.
Most people have gone to HVLP guns to shoot paint (while old dinosaurs like me are still using siphon guns). If you plan on using a siphon gun plan on increasing the amount of paint by at least 50%.

I have an HVLP gun to paint with. The prices are up there I know that, just got my SPI epoxy primer, and 2k primer along with reducer and cleaner $400. I expect to spend another $600. on paint and supply's before its over.
