paintin the block and heads

i am ready to paint the block and heads only i dont know what i am doing and i want it to last more than a week so here i am lookin for advice also i have cleaned the block with degreaser and it has left some sort of residue (smells like diesel) now i am thinkin carb cleaner might dry cleaner but i dont know? please help

Use non-clohrinated brake clean to clean it, then use engine enamal to paint it,

Thanks all! I used both methods the brake klean and the thinner both worked well! Only the nieghborhood cats were fallin off the roof when i used the the ppg dtl 16 thinner !LOL u need a respirator for thata stuff whoo wee.
