I talked to a guy today that told me that USC duraglass is a great fiberglass filler to use because it doesn't have any talc in it.Is there any other fillers that do not have talc in them?It seems like every Evercoat filler contains talc.:confused:

Is there a problem with talc?
Doesn't it tend to absorb moisture?
ground glass is stronger is it s ground fiber. most filler s use micro spheres but some fills still use talc .some use the all metal stuff so there better hold out so they say .the base of the filler is resins but it the filler part that make it stronger and some harder to sand and less shrinkage and hold out to moister
If you prime and paint the filler there isn't an issue with moisture. :D

yes and no the filler can hold moisture and if over welds your better with a ground glass filler has better hold out if any small pin holes mist . some filler can also bleed thru and hot thinner can soak in and move the fillers were ground glass is better over all. moisture with a steel body car is some thing you all way should think of. nice to allways seal up fillers as soon as you can with a steel bodyQuote:

The duraglass is basically waterproof as is the metal fillers, but both should be skim coated with a bondo. They do not sand smooth enough to primer over as they leave many pinholes. That's why they should be skimcoated with a regular bondo.
I get the areas in bare metal ready by applying a coat of epoxy primer. The epoxies will accept any type bodywork over and the primer seals the bare metal against any moisture.
you have to watch your barrier coat with epoxy as with like say ppg dp it will roll off on feather edge and if not when you primer the panel it can lift edge up .filler like Z grip and duraglass i put right on the substrate and you get better hook up and no roll up. the glass fillers can be finsh off as for pin holes the heavy long strand glass fillers will have voids in it but the mar glass or durglass i finshed off many times . bondo is a name of a body filler but more a name for a half ass job like bondo bucket :)
