I talked to another painter. He said let it dry a couple months next time. Is the "Concept" the only PPG clear that does this???

With my R-M Diamont, when this happens I let the car dry two days, block and buff....gone forever! I've used it for over a decade, and it always is stable and predictable.
the ppg clears dry slow even the old dau 82 but was stable when it set up the strato clear is not like the old concept clear. i was never that hot on concept clear but i have shot alot of it in solid color i used it when it first came out 17 years ago with the slower activator it stayed open for a long time and if you run it hard your screwed you have to cut it hard with 600 grit and let it sit then step sand it up to buff .it better now drys abit faster with the new activators .all the shops i work at used R/M on gm cars in the old lacquer days we did use some of there diamont base coat stuff .we used alot of different stuff. if it was on the bench and needed to be on the car so i could get paid. i could do that with any of it. just some of it like me more then others

Go to A- Saves autobody supply on State Fair blvd in Syracuse ( bout 1 mile pass the fairgrounds on the right )... they deal with PPG, and if you look in the back of there buisnuess card holder, you will find some that look diffrent.. those are 10% discount cards.. I'v had good luck with them.

ppg and dupont make production clears. dry hard , chip easily and are hell to buff. not to mention they are overpriced. spi is by far a better clear for custom or restoration work . it buffs with ease, stays flexible and resist chips. if your doing collision work it really does not matter what you use . 2 coats and gone. thats what their clears are designed for. spi is designed for guys like us doing custom work. try 6 coats of ppg or dupont clear and see how fast is goes south. i use spi epoxy for sufacing , ppg concept for color , and spi universal clear .

PPG paint may be over price and some of there clear is not EZ to wheel. i would say some of it will not hold up but they make more clears then most .so if you say it will not hold up wich one ? i have cars out there that have the old dau on them with over 4 coat on them stuff is not falling off .the old ncp or nct?? clear ??it been a long time it was not much better then lacquer just made for fast work .

I have shot PPG products for 30 years and I dont much care for their Concept clears , I have shot their European Global Line for the last 12 years over DBU & DBC with excellent results !!!!!!!
I like Global as it buffs like butter !
Getting ready to switch to PPG's AutoColor Aquabase Pro . and their clears used are the European style clears , the reducers feel oily when you get some on your hands unlike US style reducers they evaporate quick and dont have that feel .

Dau 82 was an excellent clear in its day , but you cant get it anymore as it doesnt meet VOC Compliance . Shot tons of DAU color and DAU clear , used DAU 82 over DBU when it was first introduced in 1986 .

PPG makes DC3000 & DC 4000 clears and have 3 temp hardners , no reducer is required , they are nice too . you may try those .
