Any one know why some of there products can only be applied successfully by an experienced House of Kolor trained custom painter? So a good auto body and paint shop that doesnt do alot of custom work will not have a good chance in useing the product correctly?
It takes a talented painter with good to excellent gun control to apply some of HOK Products . Plus a knowledge of how Tri-Stages are sprayed .
you usually dont spray HOK like conventional Automotive Paint . As in Kandies they are Translucent and each coat gets darker with every coat , overlaps are important to achieve a flawless finish , meaning no tiger stripes , no blotchiness , Plus the base under color ( like silver , Gold , Black Pearl , White Pearl , mostly used ) need to be applied flawlessly as the Kandy top coat will only magnify these flaws .
Small dirt particles in the base will look like black specks under some Kandy colors .
These are custom paints and require many hours in the booth to get correct .
Why do you think some of those beautiful kandy paint jobs on some of those low riders and street rods cost upwards of 25K-to 50K .
If you want a local shop to do the work and spray this stuff then ask them to look at some of their work and ask them if they have experience spray kandies, pearls, flakes, etc. Ask a lot of questions, observe what you see, cleanliness at the shop, and see if the guys doing the work are nice or some typical crack head who can care less what kind of work they do and how good it looks. SprayTech is right though, spraying this kind of paint takes some skill, patience and lots of work.
