Dave,
Since you're asking us to put ourselves in the buyer's seat, have you thought about possibly pearl white stripes instead of charcoal? I think that white stripes on purple (if it's the purple I'm thinking of) would really grab your eye and say "LOOK AT ME....DAMMIT!!" Especially with an outline of a couple purple Chevy Bow Ties (I know you'll love that......) Embroidered on some white leather seats, with white interior accented in light grey. It may be kind of a pain to keep it clean; but, since you're selling it straight after completion.....
I was heading down a similar path with the Firebird for a while and still think that what I have in my mind, while I probably don't do a real good job of explaining it, would look really good. For me, in the end, I just finally couldn't resist the Corvette Millenium yellow with black stripes and interior.
Anyway, which ever way you go, I'm a pretty big fan of the purple you're considering.
That being said, I'm not going to be the buyer and of course there's a reason we call it "Resale Red"....
Cheers,
