I have never gotten to do enough drag cars to satisfy me, so I get excited when I get to do my "once-a-year" project!
This 10 second turbo VW will be called "Strip T Zer". I am keeping the art limited to PG13, but still trying to make it fitting for the car.
Here is the first challenge. In 35 years of custom painting, I have never had the need to paint full sized headlights, but for a first attempt, I think they are an acceptable effort.
More shots as it evolves.
It always amazes me that something painted like that can look so real. Great job HRP. Give us some more to look at. :) :)

Looks great, HRP!!! Super job as usual. Anxious to see the entire car when it's finished.
I'm just adding graphics to the front, but I'll try to get a picture of the entire car.
From the grandstands you will see mostly flames. The owner's plan for the details are a "stripper arriving in Hell". Around her will be spirits of other strippers. I'm trying to keep it simple, artsy, and not-too-offensive to mothers walking their children around the pits. :-)~
Very nice work....so good to see real craftsmanship as opposed to computer generated stick-on graphics.

Wow, that was a trip! I read the post and couldn't figure out why you would paint over the headlights! Ha ha, it took me about 4 times to figure out what I was really looking at. Amazing!
I cheated..... I used a picture, to see what they actually can look like. Painting chrome is like painting a picture of a mirror......it's all reflections.
That was my exact thought :LOL: I was like ...ok its a race only deal ,I guess you dont need headlights....paint over em .:CRY:Quote:

The secret is in the weight savings. Painted-on headlights are lighter weight. :-)
I'm thinking that is why he painted it white.........It's the "lightest" color! LOL!
