I just purchased a 2001 beautiful (mint body) white Nissan Frontier King Cab -the one with the cute stubby nose. It has after market front headlights.

I'm in touch with a 30 year custom painter - his work is beautiful! I picked out HOK F24 abalone 1/64 custom flake. Anyone tried that? Apparently, from emailing the Aussie website, you can put this as an overlay on top of the existing factory paint, then follow up with clear coat.

Seems sort of a beige color, with flecks of gold. I live in Florida, so abalone would fit right in!

Question is - the 1/64 is sometimes called the "Ranger bass boat" flake because of its size. What is look too funky do you think? One or two coats of flake? Painter said maybe two, but I just want a nice even sparkle on top of the white factory. The clear coat will have UV - this is Florida.

He'll paint the black door handles, but there is a black rubber strip around the wheel wells that I want to go - but seems to seal against body rust. He said I might have to just replace the black strip because it is factory. I'd like white or beige. Can't I just use caulking LOL

Anyway, anyone used the HOK F24 as an overlay over white factory?
