How to remove paint from my headlights???

My headlights are painted and the paint is coming off of one of the lights. It is chorme underneath the paint and it appears to still be smooth, but will need to be buffed after the paint is removed. What is the best way to remove the paint and not mess up the chrome? Thanks!

One of the liquid paint removers you get at the hardware store should not hurt the chrome if it is in good condition. Try a small place like the rings first though to test it.

Rinse well with water after and maybe use some dish detergent too.

If there is chrome underneath the paint, it might only take a trip to the car wash to get the paint off...

Try some pure laquer thinners---it will remove the paint (scrub with a cloth), and I know it won't hurt the chrome. The paint remover may discolour the chrome.

I would use lacquer thinner to remove the paint , use paper towels and keep changing them out. Soap and water will get the lacqer film off and then a good chrome polish . done deal .

Berrymans B12 carb cleaner i ot overspray on my windows and lights and i removed the headlights and sprated them then wiped . That stuff removes almost anything even paint and doesnt hurt chrome or glass . Unless its very very thick then im not to sure but its great for overspray or grease or most anything .

Also brake fluid will attack most paints and won't harm the chrome.

I'd just use some white sprit on a cloth or a rag, rub that in, then use a different rag to wipe it clean. If you're concerned about the chrome, I'd just dilute the white spirit, it shouldn't be a problem though.

I got the car back from the transmision shop on friday evening and cleaned on it til 1am for a car show yesterday. I returned to work from vacation today. I plan to attempt to remove it this week. I will post the results.....I promise....LOL!
