I'm sure the true pro painters on this forum may disagree with this, but I have always used a touch up gun to shoot most of my suspension pieces, etc. I find I can control the flow easier than a full sized gun, and they use like 1/4 the amount of paint.
We just bought and used a gravity fed touchup gun to shoot some suspension stuff, and I will probably never go back to the old style cup variety. Clean up is much easier.
Obviously, I wouldn't use a touchup gun to shoot an entire car, but I have done even frames with one, and I like it better. I amazes me how little paint you waste, too.
I'm certainly no pro painter, but this works for me.

PS, Buy a roll of masking paper too, it is cheap, and works better than newpaper.
