how many times did you prime it and block it before you sealed it? with dp40
If you sprayed the DPLF 40 over properly treated bare steel and it is smooth , you can lightly sand the DP ( if it has set 72 hours or more ) then spray color.
If the fire wall still has minor flaws and scratches , you can spray 2-3 coats of K-36 , let dry and sand , then spray 1 coat of the DP over the sanded K-36, then spray color.

I welded a plate to the fire wall to elimimate all the holes not being used so very little body work had tobe done. So I can lightly sand it and spray the color. I've never sprayed any HOK and was thinking about tricking ou the paint a little mybe adding flakes or a gold pearl.Probably use trans-star as my clear coat. I dont have very much experience so please correct my process.
if you want it nice you need to prime and block it i did mine that way
definately prime and block before spraying color. especially if it has a lot of metallic, the metallic will show flaws like crazy**) prime and block if you want a show quality finish.
