The only thing I can think to do is rough it up a little and paint on top of it. Trouble is, chrome is extremely hard and will be roughing up the sand paper more than the sand paper can rough up the chrome. Sand blasting may remove it or make it rough enough for paint to stick, but it may also leave you with a pitted mess to deal with.
I took mine to a chroming shop and had the chrome removed ,it wasnt very expensive
Try sand blasting , it works great. You can try a wash primer and keep your fingers crossed.
Try grinding with 36 grit then going up in sand paper grits so you can prime and paint worked for me
3m has those roll lock discs, at school we call them ' wiz discs ' but the brown course 1's will make light work of the chrome when on a die grinder. also the best gasket removers I have used.
look at my cars no chrome bummpers. if the chrome is not falling off just sand it .grinding just makes work and you have to fill the grinding mark up DA with 80 grit and run the DA slow so you do not burn up the sanding paper . and go from there. paint has been on my cars for over 15 years and work fineQuote:
