I would like to paint my truck red. either the 2003 viper red or the original red form 1970 F100. It is called candy apple red, but i know it isnt a real candy.
Question is, I told my paint supplier i didnt want a plain old red, i wanted to spice it up a little. he said to use pearl in the first coat of clear.

I have know idea what color of pearl or what the effect would be. I thought about some gold pearl in the first coat.

From what i understand truck will still be red in shop, but in direct sunlight it will give off a gold luster while still having a deep red base.
True or untrue?
Also plan on using ppg omni bc/cc. any known problems with that.
Alot of local guys like it, say it takes a few more coats though.

I am a first time complete painter, i helped my Dad years ago.

Never did one by myself.
