paint for steering wheel
My 37 has a steering column and steering wheel fron a 74 Malibu. It was cracked in a few spots and I have fixed those but was wondering how you would repaint the steering wheel which is plastic. It was origionally painted the same color as my truck and I have the paint, but I don't think it will adhear to plastic like it would to metal.

SEM sells a secial flexible paint for plastic as well as a prep solvent that promotes adhesion. I used it to paint my dash.

Just sand it, clean it, prime with urethane primer, and paint. If you want some insurance, Klean-Strip makes a product called "Bulldog". It's a plastic adhesion product in a rattle can that you would use before priming. There are probably other similar products out there.

I believe ammonia diluted with water also makes a good prep solvent and adhesion promotor for plastics.

Thank you all for you advice. Now I can have a nice shinny wheel again.:D
