spraying blitz black for the first time . tips

hello, im new here and have a question . I'm useing JD Blitz black for the first time and the more i read the more i think i better find more info before i get going. I cut it my inner fenders and bottem of my hood today. I sprayed it at 40 pounds 8-1-1 and baked at 160 for 20 mins . It seemed to dry fine and spary ok . Before i start painting outer panels i want to know what pressure you guys are spraying this paint at ? If your baking it (is it ok to bake)? and how your mixing it? Any help would be great , i seen alot of talk about it on this site and figured this would be the place to ask. I would like to paint it this weekend so any help asap would be great.

I dont have the information you need, but when you guys buy any type of paint , get the P-Sheet for the product. It will have all the information you need !!!
It will have mix ratios- its pot life- recommended spray gun settings.......ect.....

It might be wize to get the MSDS sheet for the product also, if you have a reaction to the product and need to go to the hospital , take that MSDS sheet wit you so the DR.'s will know the chemical compunds they are dealing with .

Something I just discovered today, is that if you Armor-All your Blitz Black paint job, it looks really nice.

I inadvertently got some Armor-All on a quarter panel when I was doing my wheels, and rubbed at it with the rag, and it wouldn't come off, just made a big shiny smear. So I spent the next half-hour going over the car with Armor-All so it'd, you know, match. I figure with what I spent to paint this car, I couldn't really lose.

What I got was a kind of semi-gloss finish, and handprints and schmutz-marks come right out with a soft cloth.

That said, what I found when applying Blitz Black was that I should've used the hardener. I used 10:1 JDBB and mineral spirits, and it took it days to cure to a sandable finish. Real PITA.

Curious to know how yours turned out. Got pics?

A word of warning. If you've rubbed armorall into the paint, you may have big problems painting over it later.

Thanks for the heads-up; I never thought about that.

So far when I've painted over it I've knocked it down with 220 on a block first and then hit it with a rattle can of the JDBB. Hopefully that'll still work. If I ever want to paint it "for real," I'll strip it down to the metal.

I've heard of rat-rodders using WD-40 on their flat-black finishes; does the same caveat apply to painting over those, too?

I wish they outlawed Armor-All !!!!!

Paint and silicone DO NOT MIX .......

Anyone wanting to use a product for rubber , dashes , and your ulpholstery in you vehicles , make sure its a Petrolium base product , not a silicone product , help us guys that have to repair you vehicles , as many a hours have been lost due to Armor-All . Re-paints from all that crap sprayed everywhere causing fish eyes, ect........

There are better products then Armor-ALL trust me .
So every one throw that stuff away !!!!!

I need to make it clear that I wouldn't have done this had my car A.) not had a $30 paint job already; and B.) been a car I intend on having for more than a couple more summers. (Ultimately working toward a '37-40 two-door something with this drivetrain in it.) I do not endorse my actions for anyone with an actual vehicle of any sort of actual value or expected longevity.

hey "was" you said you used as hardener with the jd blitz black i went to jd here and have gotten a gallon of blitz and thinner but they had no hardener.
do you know the part # of the hardener you used for the paint??
