Door Honey

I got replacement doors for my truck. Any tips on making these last ? What do you spray inside them to prevent rust ? Someone told me door honey, says it goes on like honey but nevers dries. Any one know ?

I reccomend a good paint, or if you want a sound-dampaner, a few cans of spray-on undercoating. Stops rust and keeps out the noise of idiots with their deafening stereos.

toolow, the product your thinking of is an undercoating wax , comes in spraycans.
And GM uses it on their truck frames.


One thing on under coating the inside of your doors is make darn sure you do not plug up your drain holes in bottom of doors.

Yeah, the old doors were holding water, the drain holes were clogged with rust, dirt and a little of everything. I drilled extra drain holes in the bottom of them but it was too late. The new doors don't have all the trim holes so maybe less holes less water. They looked good after spraying the primer on. Who knows I might have it finished soon.

How about por-15, or is that not a good place to use it?

I used Por- 15 under the cowl area at the back of the hood. I brushed it on. I haven't sprayed any yet afraid I 'll ruin my paint guns. I got the stuff on my hands and nothing would take it off. Afraid it would do the same to my guns.

yes, Por-15, Rust bullet, ect ...thats a good place to use it , but I was the same way , I dont own cheap guns and didnt want to run it in mine either , they need to package those products in a aerosol can, make it a more user friendly product in tight areas.

LOL toolow, that stuff is like super glue alright, it doesnt come off anything once its on . ya might want to try using those cheap laytex gloves next time.
But then my hands look like I washed my hands in paint everyday, I cant stand having sweaty hands.

any steps u can take now to prevent things later will be much more easy if done now. nice ride spraytech is that 3 different colors to get that color on ur firewall (nice lookin for sure)

How about buying 1 of those pump up reusable spray cans from harbor freight or northern hydraulic to spray POR 15, seems like if you ruin 12.00 worth of equipment, it ain't gonna matter much.

If the door is off the car, you can also just "POR" some in there and roll it around till all surfaces are covered. Gravity will get it into places that spray or brush will never reach, but water will eventually. The nice thing about POR-15 is you can apply it right over existing surface rust without having to get into those tight places to clean it off first. Make usre you clean out the drain holes at the bottom when your done, no matter how you apply it.
