If the link Mike gave gives you good ideas then try your local wholesale auto paint supply house. They don't often stock them, but can get them in short order. If you only have a limited use and don't want to shell out the significant cash for the electronic ones, the same supply house can get a magnetic one that's good enough for close approximations, generally less than $40.

The name of the gauge your looking for is Electronic Thickness Gauge, and can be had at auto paint stores.
