Hi everyone, I am 25 yrs old and building my first sreet rod out of a 1951 ford deluxe I am working on a budget cause my wife and I are expecting a baby boy in december. I have been around the muscle cars all my life cause my father restores them so the street rod thing is new to me but I am loving it. I would be very gratefull for any advice or expertise that anyone is willing to share with me:)

Welcome to CHR, Charli, got any pics of the '51? One of my favorite cars, near the top of my "stuff I wanna build some day" list. Just last week bought a very nice hood for a '50 at an auction, now all I gotta do is find the rest of the peices for the car in the same great condition!!!!!!

Glad to have you around, Charli. You can just ship me that '51, and I'll take good care of it for you; :3dSMILE: ;) My first car was a '51 Custom 2 door sedan, way back in 1959. A guy never forgets the first one. :p

Welcome to CHR, I have learned a lot from folks here. I recall there was a special chrome trim for the Customline, maybe on '50 and/or '51 shoeboxes. One of my high school friends had a maroon Customline with a black panel in the "rounded area inset" along the side. That simple two-tone paint job and the thin chrome trim made an amazing difference compared to a plain black shoebox. I have no idea where one could find the chrome trim today but the rounded panel of different color paint could be used without the trim for an amazing custom look. Maybe you have a Ford book with a picture of a Customline model, if not maybe someone on this Forum has such a picture? Anyway it was a rare model but it looked great! Just some memories from the fiftys.
