A little update...The front fenders, running boards, hood, window frames, steering column, and the "cover" things that cover the ends of the rear spreader bar are now out of the paint shop and tucked safely away in the attic.
Recent tasks completed...
-Removed "shelf" from in front of back window to allow seats to be mounted about 7" further back (leg room)
-Installed new door glass tracks, felt and weatherstripping
-Had broken pass. side glass, and 1/4 windows cut
-Cleaned up metal floorboard to ready for black POR-15
-Installed brake pedal, but need to do more trimming in floor
-Mounted radiator, shell, and chrome hardware...still need 4 stainless bolts to secure the grill to the shell.
-Mounted guages in dashboard
-Currently planning the wiring. Located position for fuse panel and starter solenoid, and battery, but undecided on location of ignition module and coil. The other three sections of the wiring (dash, steering column, and rear) is pretty cut and dry, but the engine part of the harness is a different story. Thats alot of wires to try and conceal. And although impossible to totally hide them, I want the engine compartment to be as clutter-free as possible.
Wires will be left hanging out front for headlights and turn signals, then will basically be ready for the interior shop. Once done there, the front fenders, running boards, hood, etc. can be mounted. Until then, they would only get in the way.
So close, but yet so far away. It will still take some time. I am realizing some minor things that still need purchased (rear license plate light/bracket, ignition switch, coil, 12V acc. port, accelerator pedal, air cleaner, and radiator hoses).
Just thought i'd share
Oh, and Gherkin350- thanks for the compliment. It has took me since June of last year to get my garage how I want it, and it too is almost there. You can't see much from the pics really, but the only reason it is organized is the fact that the garage is off limits. I am the only one with a key. This is basically the only way to assure things will be where I last left them. It seems to be working.
Thanks,
Greg
