Me and my 30 are new here- Hello!

I've been into Chevy Muscle cars for 25 years and now want to learn about the old school street rods. So I went and sold my 66 Chevelle Convertible SS and bought this. There's only one way to learn, right? Jump in head first?

It's a glass car with a modified frame, titled as a 30 Model A. It's a running driving car that soon will be dis-assembled, painted and put back together. It's got a killer 12 1/2:1 525 horse roller cammed SBC with 3" exhaust. Probably too much motor for this car. I'm thinking a 50's themed car. I was hoping for a steel car, but this car came along at a good price and I couldn't pass it up. What does the rodding world think of glass 50's styled rods? Aaah, I'll probably do it anyway.

Nice car! I am a newbie here myself (less than 1 year) trying to learn enough to build a glass '29 roadster. One good thing is that glass doesn't rust! If you ever get the weight of the coupe I would like to know it; some mfgr. of glass bodies say the replicas weigh the same as the original steel, but I guess it depends on what mfgr. builds the glass body because there are certainly "race weight" roadster bodies with sealed doors that are very light.

Welcome!! Nice looking car. A good friend of mine has one similar to yours. It is near completion. He's got about 7 years of work into it. Good luck.

There is an old saw; something to the effect: "There is no substitute for cubic horsepower." Sounds about right, to me. I just don't know if my heart could take it, anymore, though. :whacked:

Thanks for the welcome guys. As for color, I'm leaning towards traditional black with red frame & trim, or red all over with steelies and WWW's.
Another idea is red or blue tinted urethane primer with a flattened clear coat making a permanant-type durable finish. No wet sanding, buffing or waxing has an appeal......
