For my Dad

Hey Ya'll.

My Dad is coming up on his 62 birthday this October and I have decided that for his birthiday I would get his old rod running again.

It is a '17 T-bucket with a '27 A truck bed on an A frame dragster that he built in 1967. He used to drag race in Amarillo while in high school, and while home from college at UT he built this car. He has never raced it as his dad died from cancer soon after he completed the car and he subsequently moved away.

I have grown up loving and building cars myself but this particular car I have never seen move nor heard run once. It is a true 'retro-rod ' in every sense of the word and I look forward to awaking it from its slumber. It is original to the way my dad built it in 1967 down to the air in the tires. I was wondering if there were any clubs in Texas that were into this kind of car as it would be cool to let my Dad go cruising with like minded enthusiasts.

Steve I think it's great you want to put your Dads T back on the road especially one that hasn't been run in a long time. As far as clubs in Texas, I'm sure there are plenty that you and your Dad can join. Post some pictures of the T before and after.:D

Can't help on the Texas clubs...sorry, I'm a bit too far north.

Cool idea .... your dad will love it ! You better ride with him once you get it done, cause' you may be hard pressed to keep up with him otherwise! :p

Very thoughtful gift. Can you get the deed done without his finding out ..... or will he be in on it??

More power to you texn, it's really a great thing you are doing for you Dad. Wish I lived a bit closer, would love to be able to help out on it. Make sure you let us know what you need, and hopefully we can find some answers if you come up with some questions.

It's really not even much of a project. I don't plan on changing anything about the car, I just want to get it running again. i would just change all the fluids, the belts, tires, add a battery, and clean the carb. It was ready to race when he parked it and I figure it's been sitting long enough.

That's cool your wanting to do that for him man. And welcome to CHR. Looks like Streets helped you out there and also there is an events forum or section here on the forums that you can post up but most likely that won't help too much but you never know. Good luck on getting that thing running, I am sure your dad will love it.
