The Future FE3-X Cutlass
Here's a new thread about a car I just don't feel gets enough attention these days, The olds cutlass (81-84). I have had my car since 97, when I saw it sitting on a small lot in Beaumont TX. It was a car that I had always wanted, so I spent every last penny I had saved up working 60 hour weeks through my summers as a teenager, $2800.00. I know its a really steep price, but I was 17....Do you really expect a teenager to listen to you? I know I wasnt gonna listen to anyone, it was the car I had always wanted, and I finally had.....even if it was a V-6, I didnt care because I had a v-8 Elk at home. I drove it for 2 weeks and blew the engine......My luck. It sat in my dads back yard for 3 years until he threatened to sell it. Therefore I spent a week learning from my step dad, and rebuilding it. I drove it for the next 3 years until an idiot ran a red light and hit me. It didnt do that much visible damage, but she didnt run right after that. She has sat once again for the past year and a half...there is no way I could let her go after all the good times and memories I have from her. Now its time to make her look as good as she treated me for those 3 years.
I have been searching unsuccessfully for aftermarket parts for my car what seems like forever now. I have been through Lauren eng, though they have some good parts, they just dont have anything that would truly stand out in a crowd for me. Then I ran across the very article that made me love the car in the first place.
It was covering a concept car known as the "Darth Vader" car. It was called the FE3-X Cutlass. It is basically a body kit and suspension upgrade from a Hurst/442. I went Nuts after seeing this. I had to have this on my car. I found that there was a conversion company in the 80's that did the conversion, they were called Spicer Distributing....But, to my luck, they went out of business. I ran across another Cutlass fan at Joe's 81' Cutlass-FE3-X Project with a few links. Most were closed, and the main FE3-X sight is temporarily down until possibly April. There has gotta be some company out there that makes actual bumper COVERS for the cars???!!!?? I already have the w-30 hood, the side rocker panels are pretty easy to locate, just no bumper covers!!! If anyone actually read this whole message and knows anyone, or any sight I could find these, it would make my year!

Jay,
Sounds like quite a journey you and your Cutlass have been through! Hope it continues as you want to.
Go to www.google.com and search on FE3-X Cutlass. I tried it and got a buncha hits. Should be some things there you'll like

STU ! You are my Freakin' Hero!
It took me a little time, but I found the owner of the origional FE3-X, (1 of 2) and he started making reproduction body moldings for the 81-88 Cutlass supreme. This was origionally to be the new 4-4-2 body style, then it was scrapped at the last moment. I now can buy the kit !
