There is hope for you my son, first you have to back away from "The Import", don't touch it or look at it. Next is to sell it and get american iron a.s.a.p. this is very important! If we are to help you, the rice has to go down the sink!!

The first step in owning an american car is understanding the V concept. Instead of an I formation like many ricers, there is something under an american hood called a V6 or a V8. Now dont be afraid, these engines still use the basic principles of air/fuel/spark, just in more cylinders. This makes something called Power. Say it with me po-Wer.

Just a humorous comment in my late night wine reverie. Let's not forget "toy" British cars and rodded VWs. I got away from U.S. cars after my beloved '47 Ford ragtop was put in the shade by a '55 Chev 265! You should admit that a Cooper Mini with a 1250 cc engine or a MG midget will get 30 mpg easily and park in places only half the length of a full size U.S. car. In addition, a rodded 1600 cc VW will have "pep" without liquid coolant and still get 25 mpg. Alas these cars are TOYS compared to a Camaro or a Mustang, but the question of mileage is a nagging question. I went all the way to a Judson Supercharger on a 1300 cc VW and was able to hit 90 mph easily on the Interstate, before I melted a piston! These cars are fun to learn on, but for open road travel a U.S. full size car with an A/C, stereo and enough HP to drive the accessories as well as the car is the way to fly. Dare I mention MGs? My son and I owned two midgets at the same time and although mine was fully restored, I still had WEEKLY maintenance. How about within four years, replacement of rear brakes, front rotors, caliphers and wheel bearings on all four wheels three times! Although the modified VWs are better made, the smaller British cars are just TOYS! This is just to say that having run a 3/4 race MG midget and a blown VW, those experiences do not begin to compare to what happens when one lightly places one's foot on a SBC 350 in a light chassis like a Nova or Chevelle.

Come on guys, imports have their appropriate place in the world of Hot Rodding. They are great in junk yards, you can stand on the roofs of them to look around and see where the real cars are!!!!
