Let me introduce myself, My name is Chuck, I've been a car nut forever having owned several muscle cars in the past. In the early 80's while looking for something in the back of the shop I worked at I found a complete 1970 Boss 302 engine. My boss said I could have it for $150 dollars. Of course I said I'll buy it. I got it home and tore it apart and sent it to a machine shop, they had to bore it .030 over and sleeve two cylinders. I ordered all new internals and then married with children happened. Three years ago I told my wife all the kids are out of school so I want to put my engine together and start looking for something to put it in. Last year my wife said she saw an old pickup for sale by her sister's house. We went to look at it, it was a 1953 Studebaker 2r5 1/2 ton all original out of North Dakota, looked like it had been sitting in a barn for 20 or 30 years in fairly good shape for the age. The guy selling it was giving me the run around with the title so I wasn't sure if I was going to get it. We went to my sister in laws house for Christmas and to my surprise there it was. My wonderful wife and sister in law straitened everything out with the title and had it delivered. Got it home that weekend, by the following weekend I had the original flat 6 unseized and running. pulled that out and sold it at York swap meet, boxed front of frame, got 86 jag xj6 ifs from junk yard. it lined up very close to the frame, fabbed up some mounts used factory jag mounts and bolted it on. dropped my boss 302 in with a 4r70w trans and fabbed up some motor mounts around some shorty headers and got a Ford explorer 8.8 rear. Now to start on rust repair. I'll post some pictures when I figure out how.
