But I must say that this is my first attempt at the performance side of things. Typically it's my job to keep your car on the road, not to make it tear it up. Thought since I have a pretty good knowledge of engines I would give this a try. But I will need a lot of help along the way I believe.
Thanks to all whom read this, and thanks in advance for the advice.

Welcome aboard Drew. The thing about new fellows coming onto the forum is that some of them don't stick around to hear what some of us old-timers have to tell them and that's just a waste of our time. If you'll post a few times about your project and what you want to do with it, then we will be more inclined to become interested and give you the best advice. (pure street, street/strip, strip only, road race, slalom, drift....etc., etc.) Will you lighten the vehicle or is it gonna be bone-stock body-wise. Raised, lowered, raked, chopped, sectioned, or what?

My name is Richard and I've been doing this stuff since I worked at the drag strip in 1958 when I was 16, so I have lots of knowledge to pass on, lots of do's and don't's, but I don't want to waste my time on a "one-post wonder".
